પ્રથમ પરદેશગમન

પહેલીવાર દેશ છોડ્યો’તો
ને થયું
આ નવો દેશ, નવા પરિવેશ !
સાવ નોખું બધું…
અંદરનો વંટોળ ઉકેલાતો નહોતો
મારી દેશી ગન્ધનું કોચલું
મારી ફરતે વીંટળાયું’તું ચસોચસ
પણ
નવા સ્થળમાં પગ મૂકતાં જ
ધરતીએ એના હૈયે મારાં પગલાં 
ચપોચપ એમ જ ભીડ્યાં, જેમ દેશમાં
એ સ્પર્શે મને દીધી જરી હાશ….

કાનમાં હાકોટા કરતી હવા
ઓવરકોટની સ્હેજ ખુલ્લી સળમાંથી
સોંસરવી સરકી
મને ભેટીને વ્હાલ કરી ગઈ
રુંવાડા રણઝણાવતી….

વાદળોએ રોકી રાખેલા સૂર્યે પણ
વચ્ચેથી ધરાર અજવાળું વેર્યું જ
ને રેલાયું સઘળું અંદરથી ચારેકોર……

કાન માંડીને બેઠેલાં વૃક્ષો-પર્ણો તો
ઘડીકમાં
વાતોના તડાકે ચડી ગયાં
ભાષા એ જ હતી ને !

રંગોનો દરિયો પાથરી
ટગર ટગર જોતાં-ઝૂલતાં ફૂલો સાથે
જાણે જુગજૂની ઓળખાણ નીકળી ! 

અંદરની કોચલાયેલી ક્ષણો ફૂટી
ને વહી નદી….

મેંય આંખ મિલાવી
એકધારી, ભરચક
ને હાથમાં ઘડિયાળ લઇને
કાંટાઓ લંબાવ્યા… 
સમયને વળોટતાં
સ્વને સમથળ કરતાં
પૂર્વથી પશ્ચિમ લગ……….

Emigration

First time I left home
Arrived in a new country
And felt how different everything was
New land, new dress code!…

Couldn’t fathom the turmoil within
The smell of my country
Had encrusted me tightly

But
When my feet touched the new land
Its earth embraced them
Like my own country does
And I felt relieved….

Cold wind whistling through my ears
Sneaked into my slightly open coat
And caressed me
Giving me goose pimples

Even the clouds allowed the sun to peep through
To brighten the land for sure
Eavesdropping leaves of the trees
Carried on chatting to each other
Their language was the same and…

Flowers swaying in the air, gazing at me
Spread their colourful spray like an ocean
I found long lasting acquaintance with them

My innermost painful moments were let loose
And a river started to flow….

I too gazed back at them continuously, emotionally
And took the watch in my hands to set the new time
Synchronising myself from the East to the West….
